What is your creation story?

20230914_161102 (1)_edited_edited.jpg

My name is Jason, but I sign my artwork as 7HE SMI7H

(Pronounced “The Smith” but spelled in a way I’ll later explain).

It’s my family surname, like millions of English speakers born with

Ancestral links to black, silver or word smiths: signified in name.

The word denotes a craftsman, a maker, a creator. So forthwith,

I propose that this word also speaks to a vocation arcane:

A creative call from the creative spirit, that within all exists.

I am

a creator.

Like billions of Abrahamic believers (Christians, Jews and Muslims)

My first encounter with creativity began with a sacred story of a Creator.

In it this Artist set out to craft other creatives over a 7-day custom.

Through the mediums of light, land and water, this initial Maker

Generated creatures, who in turn facilitate life, that prior wasn't.

The larger creatives curated the procreativity of the lesser creatures.

Each stage a template, where last are preferred over first, as its rhythm.

I believe

in creatives.

As 7HE SMI7H, I use the tools of paint, ink and the power of narrative

To tell the creation stories of other creatives. For they too are sacred.

Painters, poets, social prophets and makers of nonprofits. All comparative,

These different tales, when all deconstructed, and facts bare naked.

They were creators like us, making their world anew, in the metanarrative.

Whether activists, athletes, book writers or righters of wrongs... all created

(In the void between time and space) a good that was collaborative.

I tell

creation stories.
